Dior Christmas 2021

[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] Dior really knows how to make a collection special. I did a post a couple of months ago about how decorative lipstick bullets is a building trend and we’ve got a great example of it here. I’d strongly advise that if you are tempted, you buy from the Dior site because you will get all the beautiful gift wrapping and I think it’s worth it. You can also personalise some of the lipstick if that takes your fancy.

I have a more detailed close up coming up of the decorative bullet that depicts the street where the House of Dior is and there are three shades for this particular Atelier of Dreams limited edition of Diorific lipstick. The two I have are both matte, but the third shade, in a peachy colour is satin.

Sorry this is so bright but it was the only way to capture the detail. The shades are Taupe Ispahan (at the back), Midnight Corole (front) and in the limited edition Rouge Dior (matte), it’s Winter Poppy. The decoration on that particular lipstick represents the 30, Avenue Montaigne street facade in Paris and the plaque outside the door. I mean, I’m sold! This is the one you can have personalised if you wish and there are four shades available.

I’ve swatched quite lightly with these and they’re still making their impact. The first is Midnight Corole followed by Winter Poppy, then Taupe Ispahan. Diorific lipsticks are £34 and Rouge Dior is £35.

There are two colour-ways of the limited edition 5 Couleurs Couture – they’re quite similar really, but the one I have here is 739 House of Dreams. I’m really taken with the pink, silver and brown theme – it’s unusual and surprisingly wearable. You can layer up for more impact and each shade shines independently of the others and because it’s £50, these are choice shades that will see you through spring and summer too because they never look wrong.

The first two shades are very similar but you can build on luminosity. What I like about them is that they are almost a wash of light – all of the shades are luminous without being sparkly or glittery except for the brown which is matte and makes a very nice line or crease shade. The central silver is almost explosive in shine – the same brush and the same level of intensity on all of those.

I don’t think you can go far wrong with a waterproof Diorshow Stilo shown here in Sparkling Taupe and Sparkling Brown (and swatched in the lipstick picture). These are especially useful if you have hooded lids that don’t allow eyeshadow to show as much as you’d like. They’re nice and creamy (make sure they’re not freezing cold) so you can do a line very close to the lash roots instead and then add your mascara – that metallic flash will be seen. They’re £22.50 each. If you don’t mind about not having fancy wrapping and would prefer to wrap your own (or it’s not a gift) Escentual has good reductions on this range HERE. For example, the palette is £42.80 instead of £50.

Finally, this delightful blush with the Avenue Montaigne depiction – so sorry, I forgot to swatch it. It’s in the shade Hologram, a slightly dusky but very fresh pink and it has twinkles in it. It’s £38. So, the Dior site is HERE (worth visiting just to gaze at the boxed set of 24 lipsticks (£1,100!) and the Miss Dior glass HERE that I’d have in heartbeat were it not £110. I also swear I saw a Dior jigsaw but now can’t find it again – oh, hold on, it’s £180 HERE. I mean, I could learn to love jigsaws…
