Zendaya and Harry Styles are among the 10 biggest style icons of 2021

After 2020 saw an almost complete shut-down of all red carpets and celebrity events, 2021 has – albeit tentatively – seen the return of some much-missed major style icons’ fashion moments

From the Met Gala to the Oscars, press tours to movie premieres (Zendaya and Lady Gaga, we’re looking at you), there’s been a sense of good old-fashioned wardrobe joy over recent months that was missing during last year’s seemingly never-ending tracksuit-clad days.

Of course, certain stars have remained – like many of us – in loungewear, but for those promoting new films, those debuting new music, or those who just love a good excuse to get dressed up we’ve all been here with eager eyes awaiting an injection of sartorial drama to lust over.

Global fashion shopping platform Lyst kept an eye on such events, and have tracked which celebrities’ – and now certified ‘style icons’ – personal wardrobes drove the biggest online spikes in everything from searches and sales to news coverage and social media mentions over the last twelve months…

Meet The 2021 Power Dressers:

1. Zendaya

Forever a style icon in our eyes, 2021 was a pretty major year for Zendaya’s wardrobe. Her Oscars red carpet appearance (wearing yellow custom Valentino) saw searches for the color spike 222% in less than 24 hours. Her bespoke wet-look Balmain dress at the 2021 Venice Film Festival saw the brand’s dresses jump 190% shortly after, while her 2021 BET Awards appearance (in vintage Versace) caused searches for the brand’s dresses to spike 122% within 48 hours.
