The best Maybelline mascaras ever released, ranked by our Beauty Editors (including the new Colossal Curl Bounce)

One Maybelline mascara sells every seven seconds here in the UK, which comes as no surprise. Maybelline mascaras are a Beauty Editor makeup bag staple, combining lash-enhancing formulas with state-of-the-art brushes and purse-friendly prices for results that are as good as those delivered by more expensive offerings. Yep: these things have a stellar reputation for their high quality at affordable prices – and more than 40 (!) have been released to date.

We can safely say that no other beauty brand has such an extensive collection of mascaras – ranging from viral new releases to those that have stood the test of time. You’ve got the likes of Great Lash, a mascara which launched back in 1971 and has served up fluttery lashes every day for 50 years since, all the way through to trending launches like the TikTok-famed Maybelline Sky High Mascara which took off to stratospheric heights when Abby Roberts‘ review picked up over 3.4 million likes earlier this year.

There’s also The Colossal Curl Bounce – Maybelline’s latest mascara which launched here in the UK today (after 1,000 limited-edition units became available at Superdrug back in December). In true GLAMOUR fashion, we had the pleasure of testing it before everyone else did… and we were not disappointed. From the brand’s award-winning Colossal franchise, it promises 24 hours of bouncy curl – no eyelash curlers required. It has a curved brush which separates, coats and curls the lashes for high volume and impact – and the brand have used a “memory-curl” formula which holds your lashes in place all day with no smudging, flaking or clumps.

That we can vouch for. We tested the mascara on a rainy day in early December, and even after an entire day at the home desk (and a long walk in the typically horrible British weather), the mascara had stayed perfectly in place. It definitely performed on the separation claims (every one of my lashes was lengthened and separated from the next) and I did feel my lashes held a better curl. Personally? I prefer a tad more volume – and I had to apply a lot of layers to achieve the thickness I like. That said, the formula didn’t clump no matter how many layers I coated on. So I’m still a fan.
