We’re huge fans of staycationing in our own city, checking in for a cheeky night or finding a cheap and cheerful joint when the family is in town. And even if you’re not staying, London’s hotels are increasingly home to the city’s best restaurants. Here’s the most exciting London hotel openings for 2022, including a new Shoreditch spot, a music-themed Soho property and a mega London debut from the Raffles brand. Get these on your list pronto.

One Hundred Shoreditch

The Ace Hotel may have vacated their spot on Shoreditch High Street after closing due to the pandemic but another hotel group is moving in and revamping the space. The Lore Group (who are also behind Sea Containers and Pulitzer Amsterdam) are opening One Hundred Shoreditch on the site in 2022. The new hotel will have 258 bedrooms and a whopping six restaurants and bars, including seafood restaurant and wine bar Goddard & Gibbs; destination cocktail bar Seed Library from Ryan Chetiyawardana aka Mr Lyan, which’ll shake up new takes on classic serves; a lobby bar; a coffee shop; and a roof terrace with panoramic views over the city. Opens: February 2022

AMANO London

Berlin-based hotel group AMANO is coming to London with their first property outside of Germany, taking over the old office building Drury House in Covent Garden. The hotel will have 141 rooms across three categories – Cosy, Comfy and Roomy – and moody tones and design features. There’ll also be a sky bar and rooftop terrace with panoramic views, which’ll host DJs on the weekends, and a basement bar bringing those Berlin vibes to the capital. Opens: spring 2022

Chateau Denmark

Denmark Street is known for its links to music – The Rollings Stones recorded their first album there, the Sex Pistols lived on the street – and now a new hotel inspired by that musical history is coming to the street in 2021.Chateau Denmark will have 55 rooms and apartments across 16 buildings, with the interiors referencing everything from vintage gothic to punk to psychedelia. And in true rock & roll spirit, the signature rooms will have maxi-bars not minibars, so you can party properly. Opens: spring 2022

The Broadwick Soho

The Broadwick Soho is the first hotel from architect and designer Martin Brudnizki (he’s done the likes of Annabel’s and Sexy Fish) who’s described it as “your eccentric godmother’s Soho townhouse”, so don’t go expecting any minimalism here. As well as 57 rooms, many of which will have private balconies overlooking the streets of Soho, the hotel will have an Italian restaurant and terrace and a rooftop cocktail bar, with the founders of Randall & Aubin overseeing the food and drink. Opens: June 2022

Art’otel London Battersea Power Station

The development at Battersea Power Station (now connected to the tube thanks to a new Northern Line station) is showing no signs of slowing down, with an art’otel scheduled to open there in the summer. The hotel, sister to the art’otel in Amsterdam, will have 164 bedrooms, a destination restaurant and bar, and a rooftop pool and bar overlooking the iconic power station chimneys – here’s hoping the sun comes out enough to make use of it. Opens: summer 2022

Raffles London at The OWO

The Old War Office in Whitehall, which was Churchill’s base during WWII and also the birthplace of Ian Fleming’s James Bond, will now be home to the first Raffles property in London. Many of the building’s original architectural details are being kept, with the addition of 120 bedrooms and 85 Raffles residencies, a huge ballroom, a 20-metre indoor pool and eleven bars and restaurants, including a couple from Mauro Colagreco of three-star Mirazur on the French Riviera. And as it’s Raffles, you know the service will be top drawer too. Opens: late 2022

Park Hyatt London River Thames at Nine Elms

There’s no doubt about the location of this hotel is there? Opening in the Nine Elms development on the south bank of the Thames, which now boasts a tube station thanks to the Northern Line extension, the hotel will have 203 bedrooms, a large ballroom, and a signature art-filled Park Hyatt Living Room. Opens: 2022

1 Hotel London

Environmentally-responsible group 1 Hotels, which has sites across North America, is opening its UK flagship in Mayfair in 2022. The existing hotels in the group have biophilic designs, use local produce and focuses on sustainability and we’re expecting the London one to continue that. The nine-storey property, overlooking Green Park, will have 184 rooms, a bespoke fitness & wellness centre, a farm-to-table restaurant and a communal lobby bar. Opens: 2022
