This Swanky Restaurant Offers Plant-Based Dishes To Selfridges’ Shoppers • Adesse

More and more people are opting for a plant-based diet, or simply attempting to eat less meat – and, of course, a vegan diet is by no means exclusive with toning down the indulgence in your life. Adesse, the fancy plant-based restaurant that opened in Selfridges in January 2022, is the perfect indicator of this very fact.

Despite the Oxford Street and department store location, Adesse feels a world away from the hustle and bustle of the iconic shopping street. The floor-to-ceiling windows provide fabulous views of the street below, but from a more subdued vantage point, while the Art Deco interiors add to the opulent feel.

Matthew Kenny, the award-winning and pioneering vegan chef who can boast Leonardo DiCaprio and Miley Cyrus as just some of his fans, is behind Adesse. The restaurant aims to bring an elegant plant-based cuisine to the central London site. Adesse, which means “to be present”, strives to weave the theme of the here and now throughout the restaurant, achieved through the the seasonally sourced menus and minimalist interior.

Guests can delight in a hearty choice of fine dishes, including a deliciously crisped jackfruit “crab cake” with smoked red pepper remoulade; a light and flavoursome potato rosti; and a hearty burger, with a deep umami taste – a great feat, when created with plant-based ingredients. Got a sweet tooth? We recommend the chocolate and salted caramel crunch, or moist carrot cake to finish your meal. Make your way through the extensive wine list of organic and biodynamic varietals and thoughtfully curated spirits and elixirs, and you’ll be in plant-based-foodie-heaven.

Adesse was launched as part of Project Earth, Selfridges’ sustainability commitment. They have pledged to offer more meat-free and plant-based options across its restaurants and Foodhalls, as well as pledging that all meat used in their business will be from certified organic farms by 2025.

Find Adesse on the second floor of Selfridges at 400 Oxford Street, W1A 1AB (nearest station is Bond Street). You can book your table via OpenTable  and via Selfridges now.
