Stranger Things season 4: Netflix just treated us to loads of first-look snaps

Warning: this article contains Stranger Things spoilers!

We’ve been waiting for Stranger Things season four for a good few years now and – let’s just say – Netflix has been playing hard to get.

However, we now have an official release date (plus 12 sneak-peek photos) to look forward to. So, here’s everything else we know about Stranger Things season four, so far…

What will Stranger Things season 4 be about?

Shawn Levy, the show’s executive producer, has called season four of Stranger Things, the “most ambitious” season yet, telling The Hollywood Reporter, “Season four was built to be by far the most ambitious, cinematic, sprawling and epic season that we’ve ever done. By not just a little – by a lot.”

In an interview with Collider, David Harbour (who plays Hopper), reflected on what season four will look like for his character, saying, “I guess I say this about a lot of seasons, but it’s my favourite season, in the sense that he’s at his purest, he’s at his most vulnerable. He’s been, as we’ve seen, he’s in this Russian prison, so we get to reinvent him in a sense.

“He gets to have a rebirth from what he had become, and we’d always sort of planned this almost resurrection of you have Gandalf dies, Gandalf the Grey re-emerges, and I’m really interested in this resurgence of him. We get to explore a lot of threads in his life that have merely been hinted at that we get to see a lot more of.”

There are also rumours circulating that problematic fan-favourite Billy (played by Dacre Montgomery) will be returning – despite being killed off in season three. Dacre fuelled speculation by posting a photo of himself – in full Billy get-up – on Twitter. Fingers crossed, eh?

Finally, Netflix has taken to Instagram to reveal the first episode name of the new season: “Chapter One: The Hellfire Club.” Sounds intense.
