We’re Obsessed With This 10-Second Shine Treatment

I’m always up for trying anything that promises to cut down and streamline my haircare routine. While I’m happy to devote my evening to a ten-step skincare routine, when it comes to haircare, I’m much more low maintenance, and rather than using multiple creams, lotions, serums, and sprays, I tend to rely on my shampoo and conditioner to do the bare minimum. I have long, thick hair which I heat-style weekly and colour throughout the year, so I should be using intensive treatments more regularly, but I rarely have the time to commit to extra steps before I’ve even stepped into the shower…

I was intrigued when I first read about the Davines Oi Liquid Luster and its promises to work in a matter of seconds. It’s essentially a hair mask in liquid form – totally unique and unlike anything I’ve ever tried before. The watery solution hydrates the second it comes into contact with hair and then rinses straight out, taking a fraction of the time it takes to use your regular conditioner but delivering the results you’d normally expect after using an overnight intensive repair mask. No exaggeration, after one use you can expect softer, shinier, silkier hair (minus the downtime!) – resulting in that salon-fresh effect with very little effort required.

It’s not only speedy but also incredibly easy to use. Just shampoo and rinse as usual then use the treatment in place of your conditioner. The bottle is marked so you know exactly how much to use (although if you have long hair, I’d advise being a little more generous in application). Simply pour the solution through your hair and massage or comb through, then rinse right off and dry or style as usual.

Aside from the speed and ease of use, one of the things I like most about this product is that (unlike hair masks and deep conditioners) you don’t have to worry about thoroughly rinsing the product out of your hair, and you don’t have to deal with the consequences of it leaving residue, which can weigh hair down and contribute to scalp buildup. Because the solution is just like water, it rinses out without leaving a trace of residue – so can be used from roots to tips with no unwanted side effects. I honestly don’t know if I can ever go back to using regular conditioner again…
