A FORMER ROTI KING CHEF IS BRINGING INDIAN FOOD TO THE PUB WITH THE TAMIL PRINCE
Like Indian food? Like going to the pub? Well you’re gonna love The Tamil Prince. Opening in Islington this June (where The Cuckoo used to be), it’s crossing the classic British pub with the food of Tamil Nadu, and it’s the brainchild of Ex-Roti King chef Prince Durairaj and ex-JKS General Manager Glen Leeson (who are also behind street food brand Tamila at Hackney Bridge). Prince’s menu includes crab soup, dhal makhani, okra fries, onion bhaji, robata lamb chops, spicy grilled chicken with mint chutney king prawn moilee, butter chicken masala with coconut pilau rice, gulab jamun, and badam kheer with almonds & saffron. YES PLEASE.
It ain’t a pub without drinks and The Tamil Prince will be well stocked on that front too, with wines, G&Ts, British and Indian beers on tap and in bottles, and cocktails, like the Tamarind Margarita and the herbal spiced Jaljeera, created by Simone Pugi (ex-Bar Termini). Islington is blessed with many great boozers but with food and drink like this, The Tamil Prince will defo be standing out. And if you get down there on opening day, you can bag yourself 50% OFF food too.
