GLAMOUR Tries: We went for an LVL lash lift treatment with Liarna Jessica London, these are the results
There’s no better pastime than testing out the coolest new skincare/makeup/hair trends and snazzy innovations in beauty tech from the comfort of your own home. That said, there’s nothing more frustrating than spending upwards of £100 on a new at-home facial system or snazzy pair of hair straighteners, only to find out they don’t *actually* work.
And that’s where GLAMOUR Tries comes in: the weekly Instagram series which sees GLAMOUR editors do all of the time-consuming (and expensive) work for you.
Yep, we’ve been busy trying out all of the wacky and wonderful beauty crazes to take the internet (read: TikTok) by storm – from the Zuvi Halo (the hair dryer of dreams) to Il Makiage’s iconic foundation and the Slimyonik Air body styler. These are the products every influencer/Gen-Z beauty sleuth/beauty editor is talking about on the internet – but that you want to be sure about before parting with your money.
Thanks to GLAMOUR Tries, you won’t need to waste your hard-earned pennies on testing these innovations yourself. We’re getting in their first, giving you the lowdown and making sure you invest in products that genuinely work.
LVL stands for length, volume and lift and it works by combining an eye lash perm with a tint. It takes 45 minutes with qualified lash therapists and it can last up to eight weeks.
“What’s really great about an LVL is that it works with your natural lashes, and if you’re anything like me you probably spend a big part of your morning routine curling your lashes and using a tonne of mascara. If this can save me time in the morning then I’m up for it!” Says Ali.
“After cleaning my lashes, Liarna is fitting these lift pads to my eyelids which my lashes will be glued onto for lifting and tinting,” she says at the clinic. Once the lashes are stuck down, Liarna applies the perm lotion for 15 minutes to lift the hairs and make sure that they stay up for up to eight weeks.
After that’s all soaked in, Liarna applies a setting lotion and tint and then, once 45 minutes has passed, she brushes out the lashes, applies some nourishing lotion and removes the lashes from the pad.
The next morning, Ali gives her final verdict: “Look at my lashes! These haven’t been curled, no mascara on the top, just on the bottom. These are my actual lashes! I’m completely blown away. I’m so impressed,” she says. “In terms of after care, Liarna gave me this little serum and spoolie here, and all you have to do is coat your lashes and brush up to help them maintain their curl and they should last for up to eight weeks.”
