Thunderstorms Set To Hit London Today After Days Of Scorching Weather

You know what they say. All good things must come to an end. And this time, that refers to the glorious bout of weather we’ve been having.

Following on from the drizzles we’ve had throughout today, the sunshine will finally dissipate after a few days of on-again-off-again stellar weather, leaving us with some dramatically different conditions that are set to last late into the night.

Issuing a yellow weather warning for thunderstorms in the region, Met Office predicts that London can expect torrential downpours and spells of thunder and lighting. They warn of the small chance of homes and businesses potentially seeing quick flooding or damage from floodwaters, lightning strikes, hail, or wind. There is also the possibility of decreased public transport from its current level, and potentially dangerous driving conditions.

The Met Office also predicts that power cuts are possible. They urge everyone to be careful, and stay safe.

The thunderstorms are also expected to affect much of the South East and London, alongside the entirety of the Midlands. The warning currently covers the area from Manchester down to Portsmouth, and out to Bath and Norwich.

The yellow warning expires at midnight tonight, and the weather is looking mild over the next week. Forecasts currently predict mostly sunny spells with the occasional overcast or cloudy day, and temperatures in the low 20s.
