Robin and Sarah Gill, whose latest venture Maria G’s is only just about to open in Kensington, are already on to their next project to add to their collection that includes Bermondsey Larder, Sorella, Darby’s and Rye by The Water. Bottle & Rye, opening in Brixton in July, is a Parisian-style wine bar that’ll be open all day and serve a changing selection of natural wines.

Lewis Wright is behind the wine list, which features bottles from across Europe and will have glasses starting at a fiver, with Brixton Brewery beers and a short cocktail selection, including the When Life Gives You Lemons (Konik’s Tail Vodka, lemon, lillet & olive oil) and Ma Chérie (Plantation Rum, rye whiskey, vermouth & cherry) also available. Head Chef Ben Hughes-Gage (ex-Lino) will be cooking up a bistro-inspired menu, with dishes like Ogleshield gougeres with pickled walnut, vichyssoise oyster tartare, smoked eel brandade with crisps, tomato tarte fine with Innes Log & olive, and croque madames. Parisian cafe culture without having to cross the Channel? Bring it on.
