Serves Up: The Best Wimbledon-Themed Treats
You can celebrate this tennis season with something sweet by tucking into one of these delicious Wimbledon treats, inspired by the fresh strawberries and chantilly cream combination the tournament is so famous for.
THE IVY CAFE
The Ivy Cafe in Wimbledon will be serving up a number of limited-editions treatsin honour of the annual tennis tournament. One particularly tantalising, bespoke dessert is set to make a much-anticipated return to the menu. The Centre Court Melting Bombe is a twist on the restaurant’s much-loved chocolate bombe dessert and will feature a white chocolate bombe served alongside fresh strawberries and delicious shortbread. It will be available from Monday the 27th of June until Sunday the 10th of July and is priced at £10.50. You’ll be able to enjoy it alongside two mouth-watering limited-edition cocktails, rather aptly named ‘The Williams Sisters’ and ‘Rafa’s Serve’.
HUMMINGBIRD BAKERY
These adorable hand-decorated cupcakes by Hummingbird Bakery have been topped with all things tennis. The ‘Tennis Cupcake Selection Box’ includes two delicious flavours, a classic bestselling fluffy vanilla sponge covered with a lightly whipped buttercream and a decadent red velvet sponge with a smooth cream cheese frosting. All the cupcakes are baked fresh daily on-site and have been decorated with edible versions of all the things iconic to the tournament, including icing tennis rackets and strawberries. Three of each flavour are included in the box, which is priced at £22 and is available for collection or delivery.
THE ROYAL LANCASTER
The Royal Lancaster’s signature afternoon teahas been reimagined to pay homage to one of the summer’s most glamorous sporting events. In the hotel’s beautiful Hyde Café, you’ll be able to relax and enjoy an irresistible assortment of delicately crafted sandwiches, warm baked scones served alongside sweet strawberry jam and fresh cream. This selection of delicious sweet treats will be accompanied by a selection of the finest Camellia’s Tea House teas and there are also vegan options available for those who would prefer. This special Wimbledon high-tea is only available for a limited time and will be wrapping up on the 10th of July.
MARIAGE FRÉRES
The luxury French tea emporium, Mariage Frères, is serving up a limited edition Wimbledon-inspired dessert you’ll want to make a racket about. It’s a true-to-life tennis ball filled with sweet strawberries and a pink rhubarb confit and covered in a silky white chocolate ganache flavoured with Mariage Frères’ signature London in Love® tea. The dessert is made even more realistic by the Parisian shortbread base that has been made to look like a green ‘court’. The Wimbledon dessert is priced at £13 and would be delicious paired with a cup of tea from their selection of over 1000 blends, or a refreshing iced tea cocktail. It will be available to enjoy throughout the tournament from the 25th of June until the 10th of July.
THE FOUR SEASONS
The Four Seasons Park Lane is home to one of the most luxurious afternoon tea experiences in the city and for a limited time only, it will include a new desert paying homage to Wimbledon. The limited-edition tennis ball dessert is crafted from vanilla mousse, strawberry jelly and green tea biscuits. It will be available to enjoy, alongside a range of other savoury and sweet treats in the hotel’s leafy al fresco space. It’s the perfect place to soak up the rest of summer and celebrate the tournament in style.
