Uncoupled, from the creator of Emily in Paris and Sex and the City, is your new summer binge-watch

After the runaway success of the beautiful, important LGBTQIA+ TV shows like Heartstopper and It’s A Sin, it’s FINALLY clear that queer TV shows are here to stay.

Uncoupled, a new Netflix Sex and the City-style comedy series, delivers more of the goods. It centres around a break up (sob) and a journey of a single gay man reclaiming his identity. YAS.

Oh, and it stars Neil Patrick Harris, and was created by Darren Starr, creator of Emily In Paris and Sex and the City itself, just in case you need any more wow factor.

We are beyond excited about the show, and can’t wait to watch. Here’s everything we know so far about Uncoupled.

What’s the plot of Uncoupled?

According to the official Netflix synopsis, Uncoupled follows the life of Michael Lawson (played by Neil Patrick Harris) “a successful New York City real estate agent with a great career, a supportive family, close friends, and a loving relationship with his partner of 17 years, Colin (played by Tuc Watkins).

“But when Colin unexpectedly moves out on the eve of his 50th birthday, Michael is completely blindsided. Overnight, he has to confront two nightmares: losing the man he thought was his soulmate, and suddenly finding himself a single gay man in his mid-forties in New York City.”

This story may make you want to cry into your pillow already, but due to the fact Darren Starr co-created this show, imagine the break-up and single man vibes that only the man who created Sex and the City can create. According to Netflix, we can expect to see “heartbreak, healing, and all the humour we find along the way”.
