A Giant Greggs Flagship Store Is Opening In Central London And Giving Out Free Sausage Rolls Next Week

Greggs has become something of a institution in Britain; with no one shy to confess their undying infatuation with their sausage rolls and steak bakes. And, a store slap bang in the middle of London – in the mighty Leicester Square, no less – testifies to just that.

Next week, the chain bakery’s biggest store will open, and to celebrate they’re hosting a dazzling premiere on the opening day of their brand new flagship.

1 Leicester Square will host the beloved store, and the first 200 people to enter the store when the gates open on Monday (July 18) at 11:30am will be treated to a free sausage roll or vegan sausage roll, and a glass of bubbly to wash it down.

There will also be a red blue carpet (it’s Greggs, after all) rolled out for the occasion, to create the feel of a bougie film premiere, in a historic location. Who knows? Maybe some movie stars with a vegan sausage roll obsession (just like the rest of us) will be waltzing down the carpet?

Alongside the humungous Greggs, the brand – which began life in Newcastle – is planning to open a bucketload of new stores in the capital and the rest of the UK, with the flagship creating 55 new jobs in the area (and plenty of fuel for peckish Londoners).

Speaking after the new store was announced earlier this year, a spokesperson for Greggs said: “The opening of our new flagship shop in Leicester Square will be a huge moment as we continue to expand our presence across prime locations in Central London. We’re excited to premiere our delicious food to new customers, including many tourists from outside of the UK who will get the opportunity to experience Greggs for the first time.”
