Guerlain Ombre G Majestic Rose Palette Review
[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] If you like your eye make-up to be vibrant, the six new Ombre G palettes by Violette for Guerlain are designed around the impressions of butterfly wings and fulfil the brief of being bold with iridescence and glimmer. The palette I have here is Majestic Rose that allows for colour depth or nuance, depending upon how the mood of the day strikes.
I love pink lids – it goes against the grain really to consider pink around the eyes but it can be so enlivening and awakening that it may surprise you. I think the only case against is if you have very light lashes that you don’t want to wear mascara on or you are very pink toned already in which case a counterbalance is usually required. I suppose you wouldn’t want it mid-hay fever season either… one of my post Covid surprises is super light sensitive eyes (grateful for today’s low light and rain) so I am definitely feeling that watery, red eyes would rule it out too. I’ll stop before I convince us all that pink is a bad idea :-)). I like to do a smoky line over pink lids and add plenty of mascara – it gives the look a retro vibe that I like. Speaking of mascara, Guerlain are the unsung heroes of mascara – they have a new one out – Curl and Volume – but any of their mascaras will give you full, dark lashes that are impressively fluttery.
I can’t say I noticed significant curl with this new version – personally I would stick with their existing Guerlain Maxi Lash So Volume (£28.20 HERE) with its skinny coat-every-lash brush and instant tah-dah.
I love the idea of a full on maroon smoky eye – a dot of gold at the eye corners and a black cashmere polo neck. But the versatility of this palette is that you can lightly shimmer with the ballet pink or perk up a tired morning with the pink shade that to my eye has undertones of coral. Anyway, it’s £62 HERE which I think is steep but if you know these are colours that will work for you throughout the seasons, I think it has a lot of versatility. The new mascara is £31 HERE.
