You Can Now Reach The Austrian Alps From London By Train Thanks To This New Sleeper Service

Prepare for the perfect winter getaway this year as travel group TUI gear up to launch night trains from Amsterdam to the scenic Austrian Alps. What’s more, these new trains will go direct to ski resorts so you can hop off, and head straight to the slopes.

And, those Londoners keen on train travel can rejoice, as a journey to these beautiful mountains can be achieved by train, with just the one change in between.

These new trains will run weekly from Amsterdam Central and, via Utrecht, travel straight to Austria, making stops at several ski resorts once they arrive in the country. The train will fork off toward Salzburg in one direction and Tyrol in the other, making it super easy to reach the ski resorts in the West of the country.

So, those planning a adventure by train need only book a Eurostar service from London to Amsterdam before hopping on one of these beauties.

These will only run between December and April, when conditions for skiing are excellent. Plus, you won’t have to board a plane, checking in all of your ski gear and dealing with the increase in flight tax to boot.

The TUI Ski Express will run every Friday between December 23 and March 31, and passengers can already book for as early as December 2022. You can expect to reach destinations like Kirchberg, Gerlos, Niederau, Soll and Zell Am See, leaving Amsterdam on a Friday evening and waking up in Austria on Saturday morning.

A TUI Ski Express ticket will also include a ski pass and, unlike airlines, TUI has pledged not to charge passengers for any bulky gear like skis. So, you won’t arrive and discover there’s a surcharge for oversized items.

You can already book tickets for the different destinations on the website and the price includes a 10 day trip, with a six day ski pass and seven nights in a hotel.

The trips last for 10 days including the train trips, with seven nights in a hotel, and a six-day ski pass is built into the pricing and there are some absolute bargains available. With stunning views of Austria as you head towards the picturesque Alps, we’re sure Amsterdammers will jump at the chance to catch these trains.
