World Cup Screenings Are Returning To Flat Iron Square This Winter

As you might remember, the last few international tournaments have been quite the success for the England team. The England Lionesses team tasted glory at Euro 2022 last summer with a first international tournament win since the 1966 World Cup win, and the men’s team reached their first final since that very game the previous summer, and were inches away from lifting the trophy too.

At this first ever winter world cup, the men’s team will be hoping to go one better than the last time to lift the trophy in Qatar. You’ll likely recall that the last world cup in 2018, like the euros that followed, was a lively time across the country – to put it mildly. That was, of course, no different in London with chants about Gareth Southgate and Harry Maguire filling the streets and the pubs.

Flat Iron Square is a known quantity for soaking in the atmosphere and watching the games on a big screen – and for good reason. Tickets reserving places to watch games fly out as soon as they’re released, with the venue cementing its place as one of the most in demand places to catch the action. That will be no different this November and December, with the venue braving the cold to put on a fine ol’ time for the first ever winter world cup.

The popular matchday spot on Southwark Street is well-prepare for this strangely-timed world cup, with a roof installed to shield from nature throughout the tournament. Plus, there’s more space in their indoor taproom if the cold proves a little too much.

All world cup games are available to pre-book up to 30 days in advance. England games are tricky to acquire and packages for the USA game on November 25 were snapped up within one minute. But, there’s a whole tournament beyond the group stages, so who knows? Maybe you’ll strike gold and secure your place at Flat Iron Square to watch England try and make it to the promised land. Plus, there’s 31 other teams competing in the tournament that you have the chance to go and cheer on, and Flat Iron Square guarantees a cracking atmosphere for every match.

As always, there will be plenty of food and drink on offer to warm you up, too. Food trucks are scattered around, so grab a pizza from Good Slice; a fresh pitta from Lil’Watan; a classic BBQ burger from Gamekeeper; or some tacos and empanadas from Streat Areapas and get ready for the game to kick off. Wash these helpings down with a choice from their extensive selection of spirits, craft beers and cocktails to guarantee a grand day out – even if it doesn’t come home in the end.
