The award-winning social enterprise bakery is on a mission to create jobs, community and support for women with a social and economic disadvantage. By offering courses, work experience and paid employment opportunities, Luminary Bakery provides a safe and empowering space for women to build their careers.
As International Women’s Day approaches, Luminary have vocalised support on their Instagram page, and it further highlights the importance of their work all year round.
Alice Williams, the bakery’s Founder and CEO, came up with the concept after meeting women faced with extreme poverty, disadvantage, and violence. “Luminary is more than a bakery”, she says in an official statement on their website. “It is a community and a sign of hope for so many.”
In addition to offering support to women, the bakery has an array of colourful cakes and freshly baked pastries guaranteed to satisfy your sweet tooth. Make sure to try their white chocolate and raspberry brownies… Doing good has never been so delicious!
