A SUPERLOOP BUS NETWORK IS COMING TO LINK UP LONDON’S SUBURBS
Sadiq Khan has unveiled plans for a new express bus scheme as part of a £6 million investment in the outer London bus network
It’s a well known fact of London life that it’s super easy to travel into the centre of town but an absolute nightmare to travel around the edge of it – you either have to do pointless zig-zagging into the city and out again via tube and train in another direction or quite literally go round the houses on excessively long and winding bus routes. And with the ULEZ expanding to cover the Greater London boundary at the end of August, zipping around town by car is going to become a very expensive option.
That’s where Sadiq’s Superloop comes in. The new plan is designed to connect the suburbs, going from Finchley and Walthamstow down to Bexleyheath, Bromley, Croydon and Kingston, and round up to Heathrow and Harrow, using express routes with limited stops, making journeys between neighbourhoods much quicker. The Superloop will incorporate the existing X140 between Heathrow and Harrow and the X26 between the airport and Croydon, along with other the fast routes between White City and Uxbridge and Russell Square and Croydon.
The Superloop is still in a consultation period and when it does get going, it’ll be introduced in stages, so you’ll have to wait a little while until you can start zooming around the edge of town.
