1. Venn Street Market, Clapham

Kicking off this roundup of the best farmers’ markets in London is Venn Street Market – an award-winning local community food market just a stone’s throw away from Clapham Common tube station. They work directly with a whole host of farmers and local, independent producers to bring the best goods from across the country each and every Saturday.

They sell everything here from delicious street food to beautiful flowers, and producers on the bill include Peckham-based roastery ‘Old Spike’, ‘Heritage Cheese’, ‘Natural Born Wine’ – who specialise in 100% natural wines imported from Italy, Spain and California – and baked goods connoisseurs ‘Popina’.

2. Notting Hill Farmers’ Market

One of W11’s best-kept secrets, this farmers’ market has over 40 different stalls for you to explore, specialising in everything from fresh fruit and veg to pasta, baked treats, all manner of condiments and honey too. It’s been running since September 1999, so they’re well established, and they’ve got a whole host of seasonal goods on offer all throughout the year.

Producers on show here include ‘Perry Court Farm’, ‘Ted’s Veg’, ‘Brambletye Farm’, ‘Bee Friendly’ and ‘Chegworth Valley’, and there are also colourful bunches of flowers to buy from ‘Grange Valley’. A treat for your mum or other half perhaps? Speaking of flowers, it’s also just down the road from the bloomin’ beautiful Churchill Arms – post-market pint perhaps?

Another of the best farmers’ markets in London here, Growing Communities is a Stoke Newington staple which runs every Saturday at St. Paul’s Church. It’s ‘the UK’s only all-organic farmers’ market’, and they source all their produce from farms within 60 miles from the capital, selling everything from meat and fish to cheese, bread and fresh fruit and veg.

Don’t miss a visit to the Growing Communities Café, which rustles up some pretty delicious cakes as well as sarnies, vegan treats and much more besides.

4. Islington Farmers’ Market

Taking place every Sunday rain or shine on Islington’s Chapel Market, the Islington Farmers’ Market is one of the capital’s oldest and most established farmers’ markets.

Products on offer here include an array of fresh fruit and veg from ‘Perry Court Farm’ and salads, plants, herbs and spices from ‘Nigels’ Lettuce and Lovage’. They’ve also got fresh pasta, milk and cream, cakes and bread, organic and free range meat, poultry and eggs and seasonal fish on offer here – phew! Post-shop, why not head for a delicious roast at the Hicce Hart? It’s absolutely bangin’ I can attest!

5. Pimlico Road Farmers’ Market

Set in Pimlico’s leafy Orange Square and right on the edge of bougie Chelsea, the Pimlico Road Farmers’ Market is the place to go if you’re looking for fresh produce around this neck of the woods.

They sell a whole host of seasonal goodies here like venison and wild pigeon, freshly-caught fish and shellfish, artisan bread and some delicious cheeses too. They also have turkeys every December here, so you know where to come for Christmas!

6. Swiss Cottage Farmers’ Market

Tucked in between Camden, Kilburn and Hampstead, Swiss Cottage is a neat little spot which has some great pubs, cafés and delis. It’s also got a fab farmers’ market which is the first midweek farmers’ market in town, offering up an array of meat, vegetables, juice, fruit, bread, baked goods and more.

They also do an amazing array of hot and cold food for lunchtimes – perfect if you’re got an hour to kill for lunch and are knocking about the area. They’re located right by the tube station and just down the way from Regent’s Park, so this is about as central as you can get!

7. Walthamstow Farmers’ Market

E17 has really come up top trumps in recent years, becoming a leader in uber-cool things to do and *ahem* affordable house prices (well, more so than elsewhere).

On top of wildlife-rich wetlands, historic art galleries, God’s Own Junkyard and ‘Europe’s longest outdoor market’, they’ve also got a pretty decent farmers’ market in this part of the world. Running every Sunday, this is the place to come if you’re looking to get the freshest farm produce from a whole host of friendly stalls.

8. Alexandra Palace Farmers’ Market

Fresh air and even fresher food are what’s on offer during a Sunday market stroll around the gorgeous Ally Pally. There are thirty stalls in residence at the Alexandra Palace Farmers’ Market, selling fresh produce, jams and relishes, and the odd cheeky cake too.

Leave the Sainsburys shop for another week and support local producers instead, you know you want to. It’s not on every weekend, so keep an eye on their website for upcoming dates. The beer garden is also just about to open, so perfect for a post-market pint or two.

9. Marylebone Farmers’ Market

As you’d expect given its name, the Marylebone Farmers’ Market is all about the food. One of the capital’s flagship farmer’s markets, there’s always something new to find as the seasons change here, from the freshest asparagus in April to strawberries in May and cherries in July. Look out for excellent meat and poultry, game in season and free range sausages from local producers too.

10. Queen’s Park Farmers’ Market

Another fantastic farmers’ market here, this one is in leafy Queen’s Park, which is synonymous with bougie shops, gastropubs and the Grade I-listed Kensal Green Cemetery. Their weekly farmers’ market specialises in organic vegetables, dairy products, and free range meats – and it’s a real good’un it has to be said.

Keep an eye out for lots of seasonal specials and guest stalls from asparagus and cherries to pickles, farmed trout and birch sap too. It’s well worth a visit, it has to be said.

11. Brockley Market

North of New Cross and Deptford and not far from Greenwich, Brockley often flies under the radar for many. But that’s a real shame, as there’s bucketloads to do here, from dancing the night away at the legendary Rivoli Ballroom to tasting all the food at fantastic (and Michelin-starred) Indian restaurant Babur. 12. Chatsworth Road Market, Clapton

One of London’s longest high streets, Chatsworth Road is a relatively bougie spot with a rich heritage and is synonymous with chic coffee shops, snug wine bars and some of the best restaurants in Hackney. It’s also famous for its Sunday market, which dates all the way back to the 1930’s and has been a staple here in its current form since 2011.

Open from 11am to 4pm, the market has more than 50 active traders offering a wide variety of street food and tasty goodies such as cheese, pies, baked goods and even gourmet hot dogs. But it’s not all about the food and fresh produce here – there’s also arts and crafts, fashion, homeware and flowers too.

13. Parliament Hill Farmers’ Market

Parliament Hill is famous for its panoramic views and proximity to Hampstead Heath, but it’s also got a ruddy good farmers’ market too thank you very much. Located right next to the Heath, it’s a great spot to come after you’ve been for a jog or a walk – there’s even a dog park here so you can bring your four-legged friend along too!

You can make a beeline for a whole host of eclectic stalls here, including ‘Eden Farms’, ‘Five Ways Fruit Farm’ – who specialise in asparagus and soft fruit – and ‘Levain Bakery’ and ‘Astons’ for some crusty sourdough bread.

14. Herne Hill Market

They aim for a village atmosphere at one of London’s cosier weekend markets, and they kinda nail it. Herne Hill Market is a mix of foodie stalls and crafty options, so you’ll have all bases covered with a wander around here. Many stalls here are family-owned, so there’s a real community atmosphere at this one.

15. Blackheath Farmers’ Market

Rounding off this list of the best farmers’ markets in London is the Blackheath Farmers’ Market – another Sunday affair set right in the heart of bougie Blackheath. A historic area which dates all the way back to 1381, it’s famed for its namesake heath – which borders the leafy and UNESCO-listed Greenwich Park – as well as a whole host of delis and pubs too.

Add a farmers’ market to the mix and you can see why we love it here! There are a whole host of friendly market traders here selling everything from Norfolk-caught brown shrimps to locally-made honey, as well as seasonal specials including Kentish asparagus in Spring and cherries in July.
