Stuff Yourself Silly With Bottomless Nuggets At This Limited Time Pop Up
Islington’s new Neighbourhood restaurant is taking a markedly different approach to their food. They don’t have a set kitchen or menu. Instead Neighbourhood invites chefs from around the globe for a constantly rotating series of limited-time pop-ups. And next up on their agenda is a one-day-only pop-up with bottomless nuggets, celebrating food writer Gizzi Erskine’s fermented sauces and dips.
It’s set to be a celebration of all things nuggies, at NugGiz in the Neighbourhood, which takes place on April 30. The bottomless nuggets (did we mention those already?) and fries will be the perfect vessels for trying out Gizzi Erskine’s range of sauces. The sauces are strikingly similar to some fast-food chain dips, but are sugar-free, fermented, fruit-based versions of the nostalgic flavours. And for just £20 you can nosh, chomp, and dip your way through the bottomless offering for a whole hour.
At the end you can order dessert from the Leeds-hailing Get Baked residency. The offerings range from the Get Baked Alaska to the sharing Bruce Pudding. The latter is a must-order, making use of the bakery’s now-iconic Bruce Cake. From 6pm a DJ will be bringing the party vibes for an evening of nugget-fuelled madness, and drinks from Neighbourhood’s impressive cocktail and wine menu will keep guests watered throughout the day. And yes, of course, they also do beer and sodas and everything else in between.
The NugGiz sauces
Erskine’s sauces take familiar flavours from fast food icons, and gives them a fermented, fruit-based twist. The flavours include pineapple sweet and sour sauce, mango and apricot sweet curry sauce, and more
The nuggets themselves (which are gluten-free by the way!) come courtesy of London meat merchants Turner & George. Meanwhile, vegans will be catered for thanks to the recently launched “chicken” nuggets from Impossible Foods – with Neighbourhood among the first venues in London to serve them.
